3 warning signs that your tires need to be replaced

The tires on your vehicle play a vital role in both turning and slowing down. Thus, tires help to ensure your safety on the road.

As with virtually any component on your vehicle, the tires require routine maintenance. Failure to carry this out will significantly impact the performance of your car, but most importantly, it could increase the risk of a road traffic accident. Exploring some of the common signs that your tires have become worn might be in your best interests. Outlined below are three warning signs that your tires need to be replaced.

Excessive vibration

When traveling on the roads, a certain amount of vibration is to be expected, especially when road surfaces are not optimal. However, if this vibration becomes accentuated, it could be a sign that your tires are perhaps past their best. Even if the tire is not the immediate source of the problem, vibrations will damage the tires and also need to be checked out regardless.

Bulges or blisters on the tire surface

At times, your tires may display signs of bulges and blisters. This is typically an indication that the surface of the tire is weakened, meaning that a replacement is necessary. It is not an exaggeration to say that this is an emergency, as your tire could be vulnerable to a blowout when in this condition. If a tire blows out while traveling at speed, the end results could be catastrophic.

The wear on the tread

Many tires now have tread indicators that show you when they need to be replaced. The bars are not visible initially, but gradually begin to appear as the tires do more miles. These lines usually run perpendicular to the tread pattern itself and if they are apparent, it is generally a sign that maintenance is required.

Carrying out routine maintenance could ensure that the vital components of your vehicle keep you safer — but it can’t protect you from other drivers. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident, then there may be legal options open to you.
